One of the great sport climbing destinations on earth, and a village on a clifftop that looks like something from a legend. Over a thousand routes from grade 4 to 9b — including plenty that a first-timer can climb.
Book NowAsk climbers anywhere in the world to name the best sport crags in Europe and Siurana will be on the list. The limestone above the Priorat holds over a thousand routes across dozens of sectors, and it has been the setting for some of the hardest climbing ever done — including routes that made headlines worldwide.
What people don't always realise is how much of it is approachable. Alongside the famous testpieces there are entire sectors of beautiful, well-bolted routes in the fourth and fifth grades — which means a complete beginner and a strong climber can spend the same day at the same crag, both properly challenged. That combination is rarer than it sounds and it's why we bring people here.
Siurana sits on top of a cliff at the end of a single winding road, a tiny medieval village of stone houses with a ruined castle and a view across the whole Priorat. It was one of the last Moorish strongholds in Catalunya, and local legend has it that the Saracen queen rode her horse off the cliff rather than surrender. You climb below all of that. Even people who don't climb ask to come back.
Vertical to gently overhanging limestone, technical rather than brutal — small edges, precise footwork, and the kind of movement that rewards thinking over pulling. It's excellent rock for improving, because it punishes bad technique and teaches good technique quickly. Your guide chooses sectors for your level and for the conditions, since with this many crags there's almost always somewhere in the right temperature.
Everyone, honestly. Complete beginners spend the day on top-rope learning to move on rock. Gym climbers make the transition outdoors. Experienced sport climbers get a guide who knows which sectors are good today and can coach them on the routes that matter. Tell us where you are and we'll build the day accordingly.
Pick your date below. Tell us your level and we'll plan the sectors.
Levels, seasons, sectors and what a day at Siurana actually looks like.
If you'd rather pockets than edges, Margalef is forty minutes away and completely different in style. If you want to learn the skills rather than just climb, see the Sport Climbing Introduction.
